Two Rehabilitated Sea Lions Released Into the Wild

Two very happy sea lions were released back into the wild in Laguna Beach, CA. after being rehabilitated.
The male and female sea lions were taken into the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in December, the male, Yardley, weighing just 37 pounds with a wounded hip and the female, Champagne, 47 pounds. To get an idea of how underweight they were, when they were released Yardley was 70 pounds and Champagne had grown to an incredible 91 pounds. That’s after just about two months of care.
Thankfully, the release was recorded and it’s truly joyful to watch. Sometimes animals when released are a bit hesitant to return to their previous homes, but not these two. As soon as they are let go, they race to the ocean and seem to relish in their return to the water.
Check out the video which is sure to make you smile.
